The speed of modern life is so high in our days that a person must have time to learn a lot of information to be successful. Not long ago books were the only source of information, but now there are television, internet and modern electronic gadgets. The question is ‘to read or not to read?’ There are people who believe that today it is possible to live without reading. I fully disagree with it and I would like to explain why.
I believe that life without reading is poor and monotonous. I would highlight at least three points why everybody have to read books:
First, books rise the problem of good and evil, love and hate, teach to be humane.
Second, the reading increases vocabulary and literacy.
Third, reading makes us more creative, as it develops imagination.
On the other hand, there are people who do not like reading. They explain their point of view by the lack of time. That is why they prefer watching a movie. I cannot agree with it. The viewer watches heroes and landscapes on the screen. As a result he does not develop his imagination, memory, language, and thinking. Moreover, youngsters and adults prefer smart phones, video and photo sharing. But can the modern gadgets teach us to think, to analyze, and to be kinder?
So, there are two points of view on this problem. I think that Internet, television and modern gadgets can never replace for all the value of reading.
