There are loads of different hobbies, including art, sport or collecting things. The latter used to be extremely widespread, but is gradually losing its popularity. More and more people consider it to be a waste of time and money, whereas others disagree.

As far as I am convinced, collecting things is very useful. To begin with, it is educational. For example, if you collect stamps with pictures or from different countries, you are likely to learn something about these countries or pictures. Furthermore, it provides extra opportunities to make friends. I mean, you have to communicate with other collectors if you wish to find someone who wants to get a spare badge you possess or who can give you a rare stamp you need, and this business relationship can easily be transformed into a friendly one, since you have at least one thing in common. On top of everything, you become neat and tidy; otherwise you will not be able to maintain the collection.

On the other hand, some people claim that collecting things is useless. In their opinion, the only thing people get from the hobby is a habit to bring lots of unnecessary things to their houses.

However, I cannot agree with the above opinion, because these people fail to understand that a collector needs to be able to differentiate the object that is suitable for the collection from the one that is not to make a valuable collection. Consequently, collecting things makes you think more logically.

All things considered, I am convinced that collecting things is not useless. It develops your communication skills and logics as well as broadens your horizons.
