The system of education is changing rapidly nowadays. A lot of new methods and techniques are constantly being introduced to students all over the world. The problem of having homework is one of the most disputable questions as many people guess that it’s as important as a lesson itself while others believe it’s a waste of time. Let us speculate what stands behind both views.

I’m strongly convinced that home assignment is beneficial to all pupils. First of all, it can be regarded as a great tool to revise what has been taught at the lesson and to check understanding of the material. Moreover, homework helps to develop student’s mind, memory and imagination. More and more teachers are giving creative tasks which can be challenging and exciting at the same time. A further convincing argument is that individual work at home leads to self-discipline, self-control and teaches kids time management.

However, there is another opinion that homework isn’t essential. A major benefit is that students seem to be overloaded with school subjects, they have little free time to enjoy their childhood. Besides, some pupils see no sense in reviewing information which the teacher has already presented to them at the lesson.

I totally disagree with the opposing ideas because it’s evident that a teacher cannot explain everything during 45 minutes. We should not forget that homework helps a child learn to use various resources, libraries and Internet looking for necessary information.

In conclusion, any educational system must have home assignments. They develop student’s positive study skills and prepare for the next lesson which is resulted in better knowledge of any subject.
