Some people say that they are used to working or studying to the sound of music
People often listen to their favorite records while working or doing their homework. Some students can’t imagine their day without music. But is it right to listen to music and work simultaneously?
What about me, I need total silence to be able to concentrate when I do my homework. Frequently if there is any background noise it’s very distracting. I am sure listening to music disturbs me when I study physics, algebra and chemistry. Neither it is helpful while preparing for exams. I start dreaming about something which does not have any concern to study. Listening to the song my imagination wakes up and drives me far away from the learning process.
But some people, especially teenagers, are ready to argue with position like mine. They claim that having music while they are studying on can help to improve their attention. In addition, they state that it is useful to listen to a favorite tune while doing something like drawing, writing or reading, as it inspires and work becomes more interesting.
However, as I have already said, that does not work with me. Music is more distraction that inspiration in my case.
To sum up it is a matter of personal preference but, to my mind, it is not always good to have music playing when you study as well as it provides more relaxation and you become scattered.
