Today products with changed genetic gain popularity but not everyone approves them. What is their impact on human health? Are they harmful or not?

In my opinion, GM food is potential public health hazard for all humanity. To begin with, one of the major health concerns with GM foodstuffs is its potential to increase allergies and anaphylaxis as a result from the insertion of a novel gene into an organism. Moreover, a genetically modified plant could have lower nutritional quality than its traditional counterpart by making nutrients unavailable or indigestible to humans. Finally, most plants produce substances that are toxic to humans.

Nevertheless, some people consider that genetic technology is one of the best decisions to the problem of world hunger and can help humanity to survive. GM crops are faster and cheaper to grow therefore it will be possible to increase production and lower the cost of food. Besides, these crops could be grown in areas suffering from drought and salt.

To be frank, I strongly disagree with this view because people should care of their health and do not think about benefits.

In conclusion, I would like to stress that many people feel that genetic engineering is the inevitable wave of the future. It is clear that we cannot afford to ignore the technology of the future. However, it would be wise to avoid causing unintended harm to human health and the environment.
