People often claim that you can have only one true friend. Others disagree with that. But anyway friendship is one of the most important values in people’s lives.

In my opinion there shouldn’t be many friends in your life to make you happy. Firstly, you can’t trust all your pals because you may want to share secrets with one person who is nearer and dearer to you. You wouldn’t like many people to know about you secrets. Secondly, not all your friends can give you a helping hand in a difficult situation. So they are fair weather friends. But a friend in need is a friend indeed.

Nevertheless there are people, who can argue with me. First of all, there is a scientific opinion that the more friends you have the better your brain works. Experts from Oxford University found that a wide circle of communication positively influence the development of some abilities. Мoreover having many friends means getting more experience and knowledge. Last but not least, some scientists state that the more friends you have, the longer your life is.

However, I can’t fully agree with the previous arguments. Having more friends doesn’t mean having better friends. There are rather few people you can really trust. A real friend will never lie or let you down.

To sum up I feel strongly that a true friend can be only one and we should take care of our close friend.
