I agree that television is bad for children. I myself don’t like watching TV for many reasons, but especially I don’t advise children.
First, the only thing a child can watch on TV is cartoons and children's academic scientific programs. Even if you switch on a cartoon, at any moment advertisement may appear. A huge number of commercials spoils the harmonious view programs.
Second, if you’ve seen modern cartoons at least once, you wouldn’t want to show it to a child. Cartoons don’t teach children kindness and sincerity. Mostly there is only mischief in modern cartoons. It's better to find on the internet what you approve and show it to a child. By the way, there is no advertising.
There is another meaning. These days there are a lot of children's channel, where many educational programs. In some of them children are hosts. Watching such a program a child better perceive information narrated by teens.
I don’t believe that watching TV is better than reading a book. TV is no substitute for live communication with any peers, parents. Some kids start to carry television programs in real life, what causes injuries, norms’ distortion of social child’s behavior.
To my mind, if we want our children to grow smart, kind and well-mannered, we should do it ourselves. We shouldn’t trust TV. Television affects children badly.
