There is a growing debate that it’s essential for a teacher to make the process of studying enjoyable for children.

I strongly believe that a good teacher should be able to spark the interest of his or her students to the process of studying. To begin with, only diverse and attractive teaching methods can keep students’ attention throughout the lesson. “The important thing is not so much that every child should be taught, as that every child should be given the wish to learn” (John Lubbock). Moreover, from my personal experience I can say that complicated material can be better understood and memorized if it’s given in an interesting form. A teacher needs experience, skill and desire to organize a lesson this way.

However, some people claim that a lesson shouldn’t be entertaining. First of all, students should take the process of studying seriously and work hard to achieve good results. Secondly, if a student doesn’t feel like studying, enjoyable methods can not make him or her take efforts.

Contrary to what these people say, I think that the atmosphere at a lesson shouldn’t be tense but favorable for creative thinking and cooperation. I fully agree with Albert Einstein that “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge”.

Taking everything into account, I can conclude that teaching is efficient when children take interest in their studies. If I were a teacher, I would do my best to make my lessons enjoyable.
