Genetically modified food has made a big splash in the news recently.In some countries farmers are encouraged to produce genetically modified crops although many people dispute about harmful effects of genetic technologies.
I personally believe that genetic technology is one of the best solutions to the problem of world hunger. It is faster and cheaper to grow such vegetables and the production of them will increase and the cost will be lower. Besides,these crops can be grown in regions suffering from drought or with barren soil. Moreover, many people rely on such food for medicines.
On the other hand, some people are convinced that there is a possibility that introducing a gene into a plant may have a negative impact on human health. It may create a new allergen and cause a reaction in individuals.Others suppose that since some crops are modified using the DNA from viruses and bacteria, we may face new problems with our health. Besides, such crops are tasteless as they are grown in unnatural conditions.
I disagree with that opinion as we should not forget that the world population is not lessening and much food is needed. So cultivators look for the new ways to feed people not damaging their health.
In conclusion, I would like to stress that many people feel that genetic engineering is the inevitable wave of our future and we cannot afford to ignore such beneficial technologies. However, we should be very careful to avoid causing harm to human health.
