It is difficult to deny the fact that money is an important part of our life as you obviously need it to sustain a certain level of living. The more money you have, the higher is this level. That’s why some people may assume that those who earn a lot of money are really happy, while others think that money cannot be the focus of our lives. I think that the answer depends on how you define happiness.

For me it is love, friendship and good health. Do you think you can buy yourself the love of your life? No. You can buy physical love but not true love which is unconditional and selfless. Will money buy the ability to trust someone completely? Can money cure an incurable disease? No. Money can only buy things. It`s up to you to decide if things or love and companionship will make you happy.

Am I an angel that doesn't need money? Far from this. A certain amount of money helps you not to think about paying the bills. It will not let your children sleep with an empty stomach.

What I don`t accept is the situation when people associate happiness only with material goods. Once you have a thing, you will crave for another. Do not mistake momentary pleasure for real happiness.

In conclusion, I would argue that happiness comes in direct proportion to the amount of zeros in your bank account. Sure, money helps us to fulfil our basic needs; however, it should not be the motive to live.
