To be or not to be the theatre in our life is the question that has been discussed for many years. We live in the century of new information technologies opening us a lot of chances to sit comfortably at home and watch any play we admire. The latter can lead to the disappearance of theatres as some people predict.

Going to the theatre is always an exciting event for me. I live in the city where there are a lot of different theatres. They are not declining but prospering from year to year. They are being developed to suit tastes and demands of our time, our rapidly changing world.That is why I am sure that the theatre is not likely to disappear.To my mind, a good play develops our imagination, makes spectators smile and cry, fills us with joy and excitement, makes us forget about dull reality, our problems and carries us away to another amazing world. The theatre is a small country with its own rules, its own life and feelings.

Nevertheless, there are still a lot of people who prefer watching TV to going to the theatre. Some of them even say that the theatre will not last long. Firstly, they are not keen on going there. Secondly, tickets for a good play are rather expensive. Finally, they should be bought beforehand if the play is a premiere.

I suppose those people lose more than time and money: they make their life emotionally poor.

To sum up, I think the theatre will exist forever, as long as people appreciate art and special fascinating atmosphere that reigns in it.
