- a counting rhyme (Humpty Dumpty or "Abracadabra, abracadi, I like English, one, two, three")
- we draw papers with pictures, the one with a different picture is a leader
- Cut a lot of cards with fruit or vegetables or anything you want to revise. If you nedd 3 groups, you should take 3 kinds vegetables, say, there are 12 people in the group, so you need 4 tomatoes, 4 cucumbers, 4 onions and 4 potatoes. Every student draws a card and walk around the classroom, asking What do you have? or What is your favourite vegetable? (you can take any kind of pictures - weather - then the question is What's the weather like today?, dates - When is your birthday? etc.) When they find people with the same picture, they sit together. It is fair, so generally students don't object to it.
- pair-making:
Take atlas ribbons, half the number of students. Hold them together in the middle and leave the tails loose. Every student takes one tail, after that you let the ribbons go. The person on the other end of the ribbon is your partner.
